About the Meningitis Trust

The Meningitis Trust improves the lives of people affected by meningitis. They are the only provider of professional meningitis support and aftercare services in the UK, helping thousands of people every year.

The Meningitis Trust is a source of knowledge, expertise, security and consideration for those whose lives will never be the same again; helping them to take control of their future.

Why The Meningitis Trust is here

Once meningitis strikes, we cannot change what has happened, but we can and we do help people to rebuild their lives. The Meningitis Trust's vision is for all communities to be aware of the threat and impact of meningitis and for anyone affected to have access to quality care and support for as long as they need it.

How The Meningitis Trustcan help and what we can do for you

The Meningitis Trustsupport everyone in the UK who is facing the challenge of life after meningitis through their professional services. Over the last financial year (2009/2010) they were delighted that the uptake of their services which include counseling, art therapy, one-to-one contacts, home / hospital visits and family days have increased by 30%. The total amount given for financial grants has also increased by 12%.

Through The Meningitis Trust's work we know that meningitis can have a ‘ripple effect’; it affects not just the close family, but friends, work colleagues and/or school friends. From a recent survey carried out, The Meningitis Trustfound that the ‘ripple effect’ could reach more than 40 people through just one case of meningitis.

The Meningitis Trusthelp people practically, emotionally and financially. Their services are available to anyone who has been affected by meningitis. They also educate communities about the symptoms of meningitis, saving lives through early detection. The Meningitis Trusthave the scope to do more and they want to do more. If you feel that you or someone you know could benefit from their support, please get in touch through their 24-hour nurse-staffed helpline (+44 800 028 18 28).
